Meet our Collaborating Medical Professionals

Dr. Mathew Caldwell
Dr. Mathew Caldwell completed Medical School at the University of Alabama, Birmingham in 2012 and his Residency in 2015 at the University of Alabama, Huntsville. He is board certified in Family Medicine. He is a key leader that oversees multi-specialty studies such as Endocrinology, Pulmonology, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Observational/Bio sample, and Infectious disease since 2020. Dr. Caldwell is committed to his clinic patients and is dedicated to improving patient care through research advancements in the field of medicine.

Dr. Michael Carter
Dr. Michael Carter completed medical school in 1997, and Residency in 2000 University of Alabama, Birmingham. He is board certified in Family Medicine. He joined the research team in 2003 and has extensive experience in diagnosing and treating complex medical conditions and has provided valuable insight in following research patients through their journey. Dr. Carter has worked in many therapeutic areas over the years such as Urology, Gastroenterology, Gynecology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Orthopedic, Neurology and Infectious disease.

Dr. Christopher Edwards
Dr. Christopher Edwards completed Medical School in 2005 and completed his Residency in Family Medicine at the University of Alabama, Huntsville in 2008. He is board certified in Family Practice and currently practices in Emergency Medicine. He began research in 2008 in multi-specialty trials as a Sub-Investigator and then as a Principal Investigator in 2021. Dr. Edwards has been a valued staff member for many years and has brought much expertise to the clinic. Some of the specific trials he has been involved with are Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Urology, Pulmonology, Observational/Bio sample, and Infectious disease.

Dr. Timothy Howard
Dr Timothy Howard completed Medical School in 1990 from the University of Alabama, Birmingham and his Residency at Richmond Memorial Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. He has worked as Medical Director for companies such as Aetna, Teladoc, and Healogics. Dr. Howard has been a valuable team member for more than 20 years now working in many therapeutic areas such as, Urology, Gastroenterology, Gynecology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Orthopedic, Neurology and Infectious disease.

Dr. Sasha Onoya
Dr. Sasha Onoya completed her residency at Philippine General in the Philippines in 2006, completed her post-Doctoral Fellowship in Hypertension at the University of Alabama, and a Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of South Alabama Medical Center in 2016. Dr. Onoya is board certified in Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine. She joined our research team in 2020 and has demonstrated exceptional expertise and compassion in patient care and is currently practicing as a hospitalist. Her dedication to research is not only driven by her passion for scientific discovery but also by her commitment to improving patient outcomes.

Dr. Scott Warner
Dr. Scott Warner completed Medical School in 1990 at the University of Florida. He is a pioneer in sleep medicine in North Alabama. He opened the first accredited sleep lab in Cullman in 1997. Dr Warner is board certified in Pulmonology, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Sleep Medicine, Critical Care and Disaster Medicine. He is currently the Principal Investigator on Pulmonary, Gastroenterology, Infectious Disease, and biospecimen collection trials.

Dr. Ernest Hendrix
Dr. Ernest Hendrix completed his Residency in Family Practice at the University of Alabama, Huntsville in 1994 and is board certified as a Family Medicine Physician. He is a distinguished Principal Investigator who specializes in conducting multi-specialty studies with us for more than 15 years. Some of those areas include the following: Cardiovascular, Pulmonary, Gastrointestinal, Urinary, Observational/Biospecimen collection, Endocrine, and Infectious disease.

Dr. Crystal Walker completed Medical School in 2004 from the University of Alabama, Residency at the University of Virginia Health in 2007, and Fellowship in Cardiology at the University of Maryland Medical Center in 2010. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology. She began her work with research in 2015 upon moving to North Alabama area and has worked with us over the years on many research projects.

Tiffany Lozovsky, Nurse Practitioner
Mrs. Lozovsky was born in Sommerville, AL. She completed BSN at the University of Alabama in 2007, and a Master’s in Family Practice from School of Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner Program at Samford University in 2015. Tiffany was a member of the National Guard in SC, OK, and AL for over 11 years. Prior to joining our team, she worked in many areas of Nursing including: Internal Medicine, Sleep Disorders/Management, and Pain Management including Interventional treatments. Tiffany is passionate about improving the quality of life for her patients, and enjoys managing a wide range of medical conditions. She is been a member of our NHRG team since 2018 and plans on many more years in research.
